Get to know the licensing process with Ramnext

Go through the licensing process with Ramnext without stress or unnecessary paperwork. We help at every stage, from gathering the documents to obtaining taxi licence extracts in Katowice and the surrounding area, so you can quickly start working as an Uber, Bolt or Freenow driver.

Step by step

Licensing process

These are the steps you need to take to start working with Ramnext as a taxi driver.

1

Get the TAXI vehicle inspection

Go to any vehicle inspection station (Stacja Kontroli Pojazdów) and ask for the additional taxi inspection for ride-hailing apps. To pass it, your car should have a taxi lamp, a spare wheel or repair kit, a warning triangle, a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit and a high-visibility vest. You can order a taxi lamp on Allegro.pl, and the inspection costs PLN 64.

2

Get the TAXI stamp in your registration certificate

After a successful inspection, the vehicle inspection station will give you a certificate. Take it to the vehicle registration department (wydział komunikacji), where an official will add the TAXI annotation to your registration certificate.

3

Get your medical tests

You can have the taxi driver tests done at any occupational medicine clinic. Based on the tests, you will receive a medical certificate and a psychological certificate confirming that you are fit to work as a taxi driver.

You can get the certificates at the SYMED clinic in Katowice, Będzin or Dąbrowa Górnicza. Book by phone: 500 025 589. The examinations cost PLN 350 and the certificates are valid for 5 years.

4

Criminal record certificate

Go to any district court and apply for a criminal record certificate in paper form, because the electronic version is not accepted. The certificate costs PLN 30, and in most cities it is issued on the spot.

In Katowice the certificate is issued by the National Criminal Register (KRK) Information Point at the Regional Court in Katowice (Sąd Okręgowy w Katowicach), ul. Francuska 38, 40-028 Katowice. Bring us a certificate no older than 15 days - we need a few days to file the application.

5

Prepare notarised copies

For every city office we need notarised copies of the documents - one set for each city you are applying for. A copy usually costs PLN 7.38 per page, and with the Ramnext discount at the notary's office in Tychy, half that amount. You deliver the finished documents in person to our office in Katowice.

See how to submit your application at our office

6

Mark your car and send us photos

This is the last step, after you have collected the licence extract. Mark your car according to Bolt's guide for Katowice and send 3 photos of the marked car and a photo of your third-party liability (OC) insurance policy to kontakt@ramnext.pl.

Come to our office with your documents

Before your visit, call our helpline: 796 100 986 (9:00-18:00).

1

Register in the driver portal, then complete and sign the contracts. Also download from the portal the rental agreement (the Umowy tab → "Umowa najmu (Licencjonowanie)") and the mandate contract, fill them in with the details from the registration certificate and sign them by hand. If the registration certificate lists a co-owner, they also sign the rental agreement. For a leased car you need the bank's consent to lend the vehicle free of charge to Ramnext Sp. z o.o.

2

Decide which cities you want extracts for. Katowice is the absolute minimum - without it the apps will not activate your account. The 17 cities of the conurbation cover up to 99% of rides in Silesia (see the list in the questions below).

3

For each city prepare:
  • 1x notarised copy of the criminal record certificate (no older than 15 days),
  • 1x notarised copy of your driving licence,
  • 1x notarised copy of the medical certificate,
  • 1x notarised copy of the psychological certificate,
  • 1x photocopy of the registration certificate with the TAXI stamp (only if you drive your own car).
For 17 cities that means 17 copies of each document. With the Ramnext discount at the notary's office in Tychy, ul. Cienista 1/7, you pay PLN 3.69 gross per page instead of PLN 7.38 - book on 515 419 418 and give the company name "Ramnext".

Bring the full set to our office in Katowice. We file the applications for taxi licence extracts for your car and for adding you to the driver lists on your behalf. The office has 30 days to issue the extract.

City requirements

Taxi signage in Katowice

To legally operate as a taxi in Katowice, your car must meet specific signage requirements. The city sets out precisely which elements must be on the car. Correct signage is not just a formality but an obligation checked by the Road Transport Inspection (Inspekcja Transportu Drogowego). Missing or incorrect signage can result in a fine or even problems with continuing to carry passengers. Below we show exactly what taxi signage should look like in Katowice.

See the Katowice council resolution
Lampa TAXI na dachu samochodu

TAXI lamp

The TAXI lamp is one of the most recognisable elements of taxi signage. It should be mounted on the roof of the car. The lamp is usually magnetic and, for app-based work, does not need to be plugged into the cigarette lighter socket.

Available online at Allegro.pl
Price: approx. PLN 50

Numery boczne - oznakowanie taksówki w Katowicach

Side numbers

Side numbers should be placed in the middle of the front right and left doors of the vehicle. In Katowice the side number must follow a set design with the city coat of arms. It can be a sticker or a magnetic overlay - a popular choice among drivers that is also fully allowed.

Legal basis: resolution of Katowice City Council.

Pozostałe oznakowanie - oznakowanie taksówki w Katowicach

Other signage

Besides the basic signage, a taxi driver must also keep additional information required by the resolution inside the car. This includes the local taxi regulations (made available at the passenger's request), a no-smoking notice and details on how to file complaints and requests.

Legal basis: resolution of Katowice City Council.

Price lists

In Katowice price lists go on the windows of the rear doors. They should be double-sided, so that they can be seen both from outside and from inside the car. In Katowice they have a set design, as shown in the visualisation - a yellow square with black lettering.

Legal basis: resolution of Katowice City Council.

The graphics on this page are for illustration only and are meant to help you picture the signage. They are not official designs. The applicable designs, dimensions and colours of the signage are set out in the resolution of the Katowice City Council.

Step 6 - the last one, after collecting the extract

Send us photos of the marked car

You mark the car only after collecting the licence extract. Do it according to Bolt's guide for Katowice and send the following to kontakt@ramnext.pl:
  • 3 photos of the marked car: the front with the front doors open, the right side at a 45° angle and the left side - shot as in Bolt's guide, with the number plate and TAXI lamp visible,
  • a photo of your third-party liability (OC) insurance policy.

What documents do I need to start working with Ramnext?

To apply for one city (the full list of cities is below, in the question about neighbouring municipalities) you need:
  • a criminal record certificate no older than 30 days,
  • a medical and a psychological certificate,
  • a Polish driving licence,
  • the car's registration certificate with the taxi stamp (only if you plan to drive your own car).
Every office requires the above documents as notarised copies (except the registration certificate). So you need to have each document certified by a notary - 1 copy for each city you apply for. If you want to work only in Katowice, you make 1 notarised copy of each document. If you want to drive in Katowice, Chorzów and Sosnowiec, you bring 3 notarised copies of each document. For copies for 17 cities use the discount on notarised copies (see the question about the notary below) - you save about PLN 250.

List of required documents for one city:
  • a hand-signed rental agreement - download it from the portal (the Umowy → "Umowa najmu (Licencjonowanie)" tab), fill it in with the details from the registration certificate and sign it by hand. If the registration certificate lists a co-owner, they must sign it too. For a leased car you need the bank's consent to lend the vehicle free of charge to Ramnext Sp. z o.o.,
  • a hand-signed mandate contract - also downloaded from the portal,
  • 1x notarised copy of the criminal record certificate (no older than 15 days),
  • 1x notarised copy of your driving licence,
  • 1x notarised copy of the medical certificate,
  • 1x notarised copy of the psychological certificate,
  • 1x photocopy of the registration certificate with the TAXI stamp.
You deliver the full set of documents in person to our office in Katowice, ul. Henryka Dulęby 5/9A.

Which municipalities around Katowice are covered?

Here are the municipalities for which you can get a taxi licence extract. Each extract entitles you to carry passengers from and to the city it was issued for. With an extract for Katowice alone you get rides from Katowice to anywhere (even to Gdańsk) and from anywhere to Katowice (even from Bydgoszcz). In Silesia we have licences for 17 cities of the immediate conurbation - extracts for all 17 give you up to 99% of rides in Silesia. You do not need all of them to start driving. Katowice is the absolute minimum, required to activate your driver account in the taxi apps.
  • Katowice,
  • Będzin,
  • Bytom,
  • Chorzów,
  • Czeladź,
  • Dąbrowa Górnicza,
  • Gliwice,
  • Mikołów,
  • Mysłowice,
  • Ożarowice (Pyrzowice Airport),
  • Piekary Śląskie,
  • Ruda Śląska,
  • Siemianowice Śląskie,
  • Sosnowiec,
  • Świętochłowice,
  • Tychy,
  • Zabrze.
You can also apply for Jaworzno and Tarnowskie Góry, but this only makes sense if you live there - otherwise the vast majority of rides lead to the cities on the list above anyway.

Where can I get the taxi driver examinations?

Examinations (medical and psychological certificates):

You can get them at the SYMED clinic in Katowice, Będzin or Dąbrowa Górnicza. Book by phone on 500 025 589 at the location of your choice. When booking, say that you need a medical and psychological certificate for a TAXI driver (Bolt, Uber, Freenow). The cost of the examinations is set by law and is always PLN 350. The examinations (certificates) are valid for 5 years.

If you want to use a different clinic, remember that only "orzeczenia" (certificates) are accepted. "Wyniki badań" (test results), "zaświadczenia" (attestations) or "oświadczenia o przeprowadzeniu badań" (statements that an examination took place) do not meet the requirements of the offices and the apps, and they are not the required documents.

It is also very important that the medical certificate (there are no problems with the psychological one) is issued under the correct legal provisions: Art. 43 point 2 and Art. 229 § 4 of the Labour Code (Kodeks pracy) of 26 June 1974.

Certificates issued under other provisions will be rejected, so pay particular attention to the correct legal basis.

In addition, the document must bear two doctor's stamps. If either of them is missing, the certificate is invalid.

Finally, make sure that the medical certificate clearly states that you are fit to perform work ("wykonywanie pracy") as a taxi driver - it should not contain the general wording about "taking up work" ("podjęcie pracy"), which is often entered by mistake.

Sample medical certificate:
The elements you should pay attention to are marked in red. Other elements may differ depending on the city and the clinic.

How do I get a TAXI vehicle inspection?

If you use your own car, you need a technical inspection confirming that the vehicle is fit to carry passengers as a taxi. You can have it done at any vehicle inspection station. The car should be equipped with:
  • a "TAXI" lamp (it does not need the Uber, Bolt or Freenow logo - a standard lamp with the word "TAXI" is enough, which you can buy e.g. on Allegro for about PLN 50; it should be white or yellow, with black lettering visible from at least 50 metres),
  • a warning triangle,
  • a first aid kit meeting EU standards,
  • a fire extinguisher,
  • a set of high-visibility vests,
  • a spare wheel or a repair kit.
When the inspection is passed, the inspection station will issue a certificate confirming that the vehicle has passed the technical inspection for use as a taxi. With this document and the registration certificate you go to the vehicle registration department in the city where the car is registered - in Katowice this is the Wydział Komunikacji (Vehicle Registration Department), ul. Francuska 70, 40-028 Katowice. The official will put a stamp in the registration certificate confirming that the vehicle is approved for work as a taxi.

Which notary should I choose? 50% discount for drivers!

You can get notarised copies from any notary in Silesia. They normally cost about PLN 7.38 gross per A4 page.

Thanks to our partnership with Ramnext you get a 50% discount (PLN 3.69 gross per page) at the notary's office (Kancelaria Notarialna) in Tychy, ul. Cienista 1/7. To use the discount, book an appointment by phone: 515 419 418 and give the company name: "Ramnext".

Recommendation: you can make the copies at any notary, but this office genuinely lowers the cost of getting a taxi licence extract, which is why we recommend it. Example: notarised copies for 17 city offices in Silesia would cost about PLN 500 at the standard rate, and PLN 250 with the Ramnext discount.

Where do I apply for a criminal record certificate?

Criminal record certificate (KRK):
You can get it at the National Criminal Register (KRK) Information Point at the Regional Court in Katowice (Sąd Okręgowy w Katowicach), ul. Francuska 38, 40-028 Katowice.

The criminal record certificate costs PLN 30. To avoid queues, we recommend arriving shortly after 8:00 in the morning.

Note! The Bolt, Uber and Freenow apps do not accept the electronic criminal record certificate.

The criminal record certificate is valid for 30 days from the date of issue. As we need a few days to file the application, bring us a document no older than 15 days.

Do I have to go through the apps' in-person verification?

Every driver should go through in-person verification once their documents are complete.

The Bolt, Uber and Freenow apps require in-person verification of every new driver to confirm their identity and documents. Once your documents are complete and you have set up accounts in the apps of your choice (preferably at our office), go to the driver verification point. Bring with you:
  • your Polish driving licence,
  • your ID card,
  • the original criminal record certificate (no older than 30 days).
Bolt: 40-203 Katowice, al. Walentego Roździeńskiego 97, the point next to Rossmann - book an appointment.
Uber: 40-315 Katowice, al. Walentego Roździeńskiego 200, Shopping Centre Dąbrówka, Carrefour arcades - you book the appointment in the Uber Driver app.
